Scenes: Lead/Swing Intensive
This intensive is designed for the serious performer (ages 9 – 18) who wishes to get to his/her next level. Outside preparation, including script, song, and blocking memorization is expected. Participants will audition the weekend of July 29th to get scene assignments. Scripts, sheet music and an mp3 track will be provided in advance.  Participants will receive a video of their final performance and a professional headshot.

Students may sign up for one or both sessions. A different assignment will be given for each session. Requests for partnering will be considered.
Participants will be partnered for in-depth work in a scene leading into a song/dance number. Students will rotate among 1) lead training; 2) courses in diction, dance and song; 3) swing training where they, as understudies, will learn a scene of other leads.

Scene examples include boy/girl partnering such as “I’ll Know” in Guys and Dolls, 2 boy partnering such as “We Can Do It” from The Producers, 2 girl partnering such as “Stepsisters Lament” from Cinderella. Many contemporary and golden age musicals will be consulted, but scenes will be chosen based on the performers’ interests and skills.
